Pits, Riffs, and Mathcore: Nashville's Heavy Underground Explodes This Week
Nashville might be famous for country, but this week the city's concrete underbelly is taking over. Monday night kicks off with a devastating dose of hardcore punk and metalcore at The Basement East. Los Angeles legends Terror are bringing their relentless, zero-compromise live energy alongside New York's Pain Of Truth and Baltimore's explosive End It. Expect a sweaty, high-velocity clinic in pit ethics and bruising riffs that will leave the East Nashville venue shaking.
The pressure doesn't let up on Tuesday as Brooklyn Bowl shifts the dial to classic Bay Area thrash metal and speed metal. Thrash veterans Death Angel are hitting the stage alongside Vio-lence to deliver a masterclass in hyper-speed fretwork and blistering rhythms. Both bands are renowned for preserving the raw, aggressive energy of the 80s underground while executing live sets with terrifying modern precision.
To round out the week, Sunday offers a brutal choice of sonic textures. At Marathon Music Works, post-hardcore and math rock giants Dance Gavin Dance join forces with the chaotic mathcore patterns of The Fall of Troy for a dizzying display of technical guitar wizardry. Meanwhile, Cannery Hall plays host to Arkansas doom metal titans Pallbearer, whose tectonic, slow-motion alternative metal riffs will offer a dark, melancholic contrast to the weekend's chaotic energy.
